Since 2013, I have served as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia and have had the privilege of coming alongside men & women from all seasons of life to provide individual and couple counseling. On a regular basis, I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, loss & grief, relational issues, career challenges, parenting and shame. I also provide pre-engagement and premarital counseling and am a certified SYMBIS facilitator, which stands for Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts. This is an online profile that serves as an excellent tool to work with all married couples, whether you’re in the marriage preparation stage or have been married for many years. Prior to my licensing, I served for five years as a Counselor in Residence under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Supervisor.
What does counseling from a Biblical perspective look like? I believe it means to provide counseling through the lens of Scripture and in conjunction with current psychological standards and research. In other words, the Bible and psychology complement each other; both are descriptive of the human condition and behavior, while the Bible is prescriptive, holding the true answers to human problems. My counseling style is warm and interactive energized by a desire to honor one’s story, their personal faith and the impact that it has had on the way you do relationship and life. My approach incorporates aspects of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Interpersonal Neurobiology. (IPNB).
As a Biblically based and clinically trained counselor, it is my desire and hope to facilitate in a warm, compassionate and interactive style the transformation of our hearts by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For apart from HIM, we can do nothing – John 15:5
It takes courage and humility to take steps to pursue counseling and support. If you are ready to do so, I welcome the opportunity to work with you!
