Bible Studies

As the foundation of all we believe and all we do, women meet regularly to study God’s word for spiritual growth and fellowship. “Do you best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

Hoping for Something Better by Nancy Guthrie.

We live in a time where Jesus can be drowned out and pushed aside instead of pursuing our Christian faith and discipleship. Hebrews, the letter to Jewish Christians, speaks directly to people who needed a renewed vision of why Jesus alone deserves our worship, our perseverance, and our very lives. This is a 10-week Bible study looking at Hebrews. We hope to gain a deeper understanding of who Jesus Christ is, what He has accomplished on our behalf, and why drawing near to Him is the most worthwhile investment of your life.

The book is $16. No childcare provided. This group will meet in the church library. For more information or to sign up, contact leaders Ruth Vickman, Karen Standford & Kelly Kidd.

Judges: The Path From Chaos to Kingship by Lydia Brownback.

Why study Judges?  It is rather a depressing book. The people are in the depths of rebellion. “Doing what is right in their own eyes.”  Repeatedly falling away, yet God in His faithfulness continually delivers them. In the midst of the chaos, the Old Testament Scriptures point us to our need for King Jesus!

The book is $8.50. No childcare provided. This group will meet at the home of Kathy Bowen. For more information or to sign up, contact leaders Kathy Bowen & Kristen Ulmer.

The book cost is $7.99 at various online sites. There will be no childcare provided. The group will meet at the home of Kendra Shickel in Mt Crawford. For more information or to sign up, contact leaders Debby Walsh & Kendra Shickel.

The Way of Wisdom – A Study of the Book of Proverbs by Jen Wilkin.

The book of Proverbs describes godly wisdom as a path that leads to life and flourishing. It also warns of the folly of worldly wisdom as a path that leads to the grave. Every day we face the choice between the true riches of God’s instruction or the fool’s gold of earthly pleasures and pursuits. The authors of this study invite us to place our feet firmly on the path of life revealed in the book of Proverbs. As we consider wisdom principles on everyday topics like words, work, friendship, marriage, parenting, neighborliness, money management, leadership influence, and more, we’ll discover the wisdom of Proverbs as an invitation to steadily walk God’s way in God’s world.

The book is $24.99 on Amazon. There will not be childcare provided. The group will meet at the home of Crissy Sorenson in Rockingham. For more information or to sign up, contact leaders Mary McAdams & Crissy Sorenson.

Finding Grace in the Face of Dementia by Dr. John Dunlop, MD.

When someone is diagnosed with dementia, it impacts not only that person, but those who care for them as well as the greater community. It can be devastating to watch loved ones lose the independence, personality, and abilities that once defined them, knowing there is no cure. This book encourages transformation in the way we view dementia, showing us how God can be honored as we respect the inherent dignity of all humans made in the image of God. Our intention is to couple the topics in this book with a study of scripture and considerations of cultural practices around the world.

The book cost is $16 and there will not be childcare provided. This group will meet at the home of Jacey Roberts in Harrisonburg. For more information or to sign up, contact leaders Barbara Miller & Jacey Roberts.
